Description
The Thread Dokra Choker is a striking piece of tribal jewellery showcasing a beautifully crafted circular Dokra metal pendant attached to a hand-wrapped thread cord. The pendant features a radial motif resembling a sunburst or floral pattern, highlighting the intricate detailing characteristic of Dokra metalwork.
The deep green thread contrasts elegantly with the warm golden tone of the Dokra metal, giving the necklace a bold yet earthy aesthetic. Lightweight and comfortable to wear, this choker blends traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary tribal style.
Craftsmanship & Origin
Dokra craft is one of India’s oldest metal casting traditions, practiced for over 4,000 years by tribal artisans in Chhattisgarh and nearby regions. The jewellery is created using the lost-wax casting method, where a wax model is coated with clay and natural materials such as rice husk.
When heated, the wax melts away and molten metal is poured into the mold to create the final design. Natural elements like clay, coal, tree resin, and nut oil are used during the process, making it a traditional and eco-friendly craft technique.
