Description
The Dokra Tortoise is a beautifully handcrafted metal figurine made using the ancient Dokra (Dhokra) craft technique. The tortoise design is detailed with intricate patterns and textures, giving it a rustic and tribal aesthetic.
Symbolizing longevity, stability, and prosperity, the tortoise is often considered a meaningful decorative piece in homes. Its compact size and artistic finish make it ideal for display on shelves, desks, or decorative corners.
Craftsmanship & Origin
Dokra craft is an ancient metal casting tradition practiced by tribal artisans in West Bengal and other parts of eastern India. The craft uses the lost-wax casting technique, where a wax model is created, coated with clay, and then heated so the wax melts away. Molten metal is then poured into the mold to form the final piece. Each item is unique because the clay mold is broken after casting, making every Dokra Tortoise a one-of-a-kind creation.
