Description
The Dokra Small Ganesha is a beautifully crafted metal idol of Lord Ganesha created in the distinctive tribal style of Dokra art. The figurine features intricate textures and traditional patterns that give it a rustic and artistic appearance.
Lord Ganesha, known as the remover of obstacles and the symbol of wisdom and prosperity, makes this sculpture both a decorative and spiritual item. Its compact size makes it suitable for small home altars, desks, or decorative shelves.
Craftsmanship & Origin
Dokra (Dhokra) craft is an ancient tribal metal casting tradition practiced by artisans in West Bengal. The craft uses the lost-wax casting technique, where a wax model of the design is first created.
The wax model is coated with a mixture of clay and rice husk to form a mold. When heated, the wax melts away and molten metal is poured into the mold cavity. Natural materials such as coal, tree resin, and nut oil are used during the process. After cooling, the clay mold is broken to reveal the final handcrafted piece. Because the mold is broken after casting, each Dokra Small Ganesha is unique and cannot be exactly replicated.
