Description

Bidri products (or Bidriware) are a unique type of metal handicraft from Bidar, Karnataka, known for their striking contrast of pure silver inlay against a deep black metal base. Traditionally used for royal utility items, modern Bidriware now includes a wide variety of home décor and personal accessories.

  • Material: Made from a blackened alloy of zinc and copper (usually in a 16:1 ratio) with pure silver wire or sheet inlays.
  • The “Secret” Soil: The signature jet-black colour is achieved by dipping the metal in a solution containing a specific type of soil found only in the ruins of the Bidar Fort, which contains high levels of potassium nitrate

Bidri products vary on a wide range, like Home Decor, Office Stationary, Jewellery, Kitchen and Dining, Traditional Antiques.

The Bidri Elephant small featured is a perfect gift for an art and handicraft enthusiast.
